Walk-able ice on East Side

Does anyone know if there is any walk-able ice anywhere on the east side of the lake as of yet? Looking for somewhere around the Macs Twin Bay area up to Hunters Point for this upcoming weekend.

Thanks,

I will try calling Hunter's Point Bar and ask if they have tested the ice; HIGH today 1 above.

-15 below there tonight:

Howdy John, biggrin

All,

I just spoke with Hunter's Point but I just missed Jon Knudsen and George Nitti.

They have been out to test the ice this morning; it is layered and inconsistent yet due to the break  up and refreezing in the bay/marina areas -- that we all saw.

They are not letting anyone out today. nono No clear answer was given on ice thickness. Inconsistent readings.

A -15 below night should certainly have an effect. They are testing again tomorrow they said. hmmno

Thank you Malmo. I have a house out of Hunters Point and was hoping to come up for the weekend if possible to do some fishing. Hopefully the recent snow hasn't hurt too bad but I am not holding my breath. Hopefully the cold temps can penetrate the snow and make sure walk-able ice.

Good Plan John,

I think you should be fine to have walk-able ice by Friday or Saturday.I wish I was there I would pull out my Otter Popup portable house with my Big Buddy heater for an early outdoor bite.

Jon Knudsen can certainly give you good advice. I usually rent a 'guide house' from George Nitti when they get them deployed. My Otter gets me by in the meantime. It was an early freeze 2-3 weeks early at our homes at Malmo Bay lake shore.I am just south of Castaway's.

Good luck Dude.

Just PM Hunters Point about walk-able ice out of the access and apparently they are sitting on 2" of ice only as of today. No go for this weekend out of Hunters Point.

WOW. Yup -- 2 inches is a NO GO. We need at least 4 inches for walking out and 4-6 inches  is better of course. That is too bad. Good luck. We are still ahead of normal conditions for only December 11th. It should be locked in by December 20th or so.

Good luck.

After very poor and unsafe early ice, there are finally a few houses getting staged or place on the lake at Sunset Bay, Agate Bay and Twin Pines. ATV's at Hunter's Point Marian.

good luck and be safe.

Update: Malmo Mike 12-11-2020:

It appears some walking ice fishermen (Crazies) have walked out in Isle Bay with small portable sleds.
So limited walkable ice in ISLE Bay today 12-11-2020 here is web cam capture; about ten fishing sleds on Saturday morning on outer edge of ice.

YES they are somewhat CRAZY. Garrison Bay is open water due to prevailing winds.
