Tim was just out checking current conditions after this "way to much" snowfall. Not much has changed, there's still 9" of ice in the bay past the crappie hole. Not enough to put a truck/plow on yet. There's 7+" of snow cover and water comes up at least 1/2" as soon as you drill a hole. We will NOT be allowing wheelhouses out this weekend. We will allow ATV's but the going isn't easy and I recommend chains and bring a shovel in case you get stuck as you are on your own.
Tim was out checking ice again today. Found nothing less than 10" but nothing more than 10 1/2" out 2 miles. He did find some slush areas. He's hoping to do alittle plowing here in the bay tomorrow & Friday. Not so sure wheelhouses will be able to get around very good with ATVs and we won't be letting any vehicles go as of right now.
Tim spent most of the day plowing the road but only a short distance and there's water/slush beyond it so they didn't venture farther. I had thought wheelhouses would be able to get around okay with ATV's but Tim doesn't think it will be doable in the 8" snow and slush pockets. Maybe if you have a very small house and tracks/chains on your ATV otherwise you will probably end up stuck and we will not be plowing cowpaths to get people unstuck.
Tim and Mike got the main road plowed out a couple miles today. Will not be letting any vehicles go tomorrow so things can settle down and heal up. We'll see how things go for the weekend.
We will allow vehicles 1/2 ton or less out this weekend but not pulling wheelhouses. Small wheelhouses (less than 16 ft) with an ATV can go but it won't be easy moving around so you better bring a shovel. You will need to get at least 50 ft. off the road and slow driving will be a MUST. If you feel you can't comply with our requests, please leave your vehicle on shore. We still highly recommend ATV/sled travel.
Wind and more snow have made for a drifty bay. Road berms are very wet so stay clear. Seeing some flooding after holes are drilled especially if the snow drifts around houses. Haven't done a whole lot of plowing today, will wait for the wind to settle down and get back at it tomorrow when it's a south wind. Road is open 2 miles but it will be tough moving around off road with wheelhouses because of all the snow. Rental house caught a small northern as soon as they walked in the door and saw a couple walleyes, a couple northerns and crappie and smaller perch this past weekend but they weren't too interested in biting.
