Tony stated "put the smallies back, it is a great resource here, there are plenty of Walleyes we can keep"
Have, the forums of the MLLF or have not, for the last 1-2 years steady and all locals and guides for Mille Lacs been saying that there is a Major shortage of these "over abundant" Walleyes in the Mille Lacs fishery?
Not condoning Tony, he is good at what he does, and obviously knows more than I, I am just confused by the statement - Seeing that he is one to make a living on the lake as many others do - Am I missing something?
Not to say that the smallies do not deserve to be put back, but are them not, along with the Muskies and larger Northerns the "vacuum cleaners" from what I have heard
People are putting money (my self included, what I can comfortably afford) to fund a action, hell I even advertise for it on the bottom of my post and tell everybody I know about it, to get the Walleye population back on track because it is in "such Jeopardy"
Everyone has an opinion. Tony has his. I got no problem with it at all. Remember, there is no scientific proof that smallies are affecting walleye populations. At least none that I am aware of. There is however a long history that shows netting walleyes, especially in the spring can ruin a lake. So it my opinion we get rid of the nets and the walleye problem will quickly fix itself! Go STEVE!!
Agreed, totaly agreed - Like I said, Tony knows more about the water than I do, and what is in it - I give him, and all others that do what he does (Bobber/Steve to name a couple), MAJOR Respect
I was just wondering about the Walleye numbers more than anything - My understanding is there is a shortage - Is the hype more for the future, so there is plenty of them now?
I am not trying to start arguments, I am just courious - Thats all
