Not at all! It's actually a very prefered method for many including me.

Depending on what depth of water you are fishing and what depth you are tageting, you will more than likely need some in line trolling weights. I prefer the "Keel" weights myself.

I've shown a link below for a reference. hook in line weight to spinner rig and then best to use a line counter and let out prefered amount of line, then add your board.

It will take some learning as far as weights, amount of line out, and speed.

I've ran them as shallow as 6-10' using 1/4 ounce in lines back 25-30 feet. From there to go deeper, I run more weight and more line back.

Is it difficult to run spinners on planner boards?  Trying to find a way to spread out three lines in a boat while trolling.  Any tips would be appreciated.
