Wet, wet, wet... with the lake on the rise the fishing remains good. We got out Sunday afternoon in between showers and did some rigging in the gravel with some pretty good results. We used 6ft snells with plain hooks and seen most of the fish on the edges of the breaks and a few up on top. Speed was a key factor. We had two drift socks out to keep us at .6 to .8 and that triggered more bites. They smacked'em pretty good when they hit, there was no question when you had a fish on. Sunday evening we setup in the rocks for some bobber action. We where in the 13ft range and had a 20" in the boat in about 3 minutes. The bite wasn't on fire but we did get about 4 fish in an hour or so before we had to go in at dusk due to a light malfunction on my boat.
Monday we got out mid-morning with some beautiful weather and light winds. We again hit the gravel that produced for us on Sunday. We managed 3 fish with 2 for the box before we noticed the sky darkening. Time to head in for another round of showers. Can't wait to get out again and hopefully the weather will cooperate a little better.
That storm line Monday moved in like a Jimmy Johns delivery - freaky fast! Still up today. Was hoping to get out, but looks like Hawii 5-0 out there. Grabbing a couple trash bags and going for a walk over at the beach.
We had some good, some bad. But all in all, we did good. The kids and I had a blast yesterday before and after the storm. Here's a couple pics of the girls with their bounty. Nevermind the crabby one in the background, she couldn't buy a bite yesterday.
Friday, 3 of us got 12 (6 keepers) and Monday 14 (7 keepers). All fish in 22 to 24' pulling minnow & spinners and crawlers on slow death hooks. Slow death works great for kids because they really bang them and very good hook up rate. Between baiting hooks, landing fish, and taking them off the lines I managed to loose almost everythig that bit on my pole. Last fish of the day I finally got the bite and pulled it in. One of the other lines was tangled with mind. When I went to take the fish off, there was a slow death hook with crawler in mouth. I was using spinner/minnow. My granddaughter hooked the fish but I pulled it up when it tangled in my line. All had a good laugh at my expense.

Time to head in for another round of showers. Can't wait to get out again and hopefully the weather will cooperate a little better.
