How are the roads holding up?  Will we be OK with a 1/2 ton and wheel house this week-end?

Road conditions haven't gotten THIS bad yet. (Notice the bailout technique!)

It should help the ice, but the question is, will anyone be out plowing roads?

The ice is melting from the bottom up. Right now, you're looking at around 18 inches of ice that won't be healing it's cracks with this much insulating snow on it. Maintaining roads at this point in the year isn't worthwhile. The heavy wet snow is hard on the equipment and there isn't enough ice out there to plow on.

I'm thinkin' it'll be an early ice out.

(I'm glad I'm going to LOW instead of picking blocks this year!)biggrin

Go for it Jon and have fun. I am bringing some elk for you in May for the Opener. Plus cold ones. See you around May 10th; I vote for an early ice out too.

I'm headed up to low with 3 of my 4 boys next weekend! Gotta stay on the walleye buzz while it lasts!
