Current Ice Conditions

By the number of folks that are hitting the website, I guess everyone is waiting to hear when the now infamous crack has healed enough for the resorts to begin pulling houses to the prime fishing locations.

We appreciate the ice condition updates from those of you who are currently fishing.

What is the thickness of the ice not effected by the crack, and has the ice shifted during the past 48 hours?

Again Thanks for keeping us posted

First of all, let's remember that ice is NEVER totally safe.

That being said, with caution being the big factor here, I think the cold temps we're experiencing are finally going to make it possible to get out and fish those deeper waters yet.

The biomass (or the pack) are moving out into the 30' range now.

Don't get me wrong. You don't need to be that deep to catch fish. Hell, I watched a MAJOR school on my camera chasing a school of fatheads into 25' where my day house is at the other day and picked off a limit in an hour.

But with 16" of Ice and the cracks filling in pretty well, we're locking in the ice, finally!

Give it a few more days and I think Mille Lacs will be locked.

Thanks Jonnie,

I'm trying to setup a time to come up and get my house out.

Looks like sometime next week will work for me.

Do you think we will be able to drive by then or will we need

to use 4 wheelers or sleds? I know the final decesion is up to

the resort, but it's a lot easier to transport my gear via auto.

Heading up on sunday. Anyone have any suggestions on where we can access  the lake by 1/2 ton vehicle.

Looking at the webcams around the lake I have seen trucks and wheelhouses going on Southend, Northend and some of the eastside spots (Macs Twin Bay, Appeldoorns, Hunters) with specific locations i am sure. Just be sure and check in with the resort and know where is good.
