Not much has changed since my last report as far as ice conditions. Still dealing with cracks, thin ice and open water.
The good news again this week is that fishing has been good. We are seeing lots of Perch and Walleyes this past week. We are still focusing on the shoreline breaks where we have some good ice. We have been finding most of our fish off the first sharp break line and if the ice permits...even sliding down to the second or third breaks. The fish are very active....and Gold or Hot Perch Macho's 1/8 oz. or a small gold buck shot have been the best.
Some resorts are finding good ice out front and allowing foot or ATV/Sled travel. Have even heard of a few resorts allowing vehicle travel out....I will stick to my ATV for awhile longer. Just check with the resort before heading out....as always, do not assume anything this year....don't cross any cracks...don't go off road unless you drill your way out.
I've attached a link to this weeks "On the Ice Report". Keep your jigs up off the bottom...I promise you will catch more fish.
