As some of us start to take inventory of our ice fishing tackle...it's inevitable that we will need to replenish jigs, spoons, etc. With that said, what are your favorite walleye and perch spoons and jigs on Mille Lacs? I would love to have a reason to pick up some more tackle!
I'll share a couple. One is an 1/8 oz JR's Tackle "Stop Sign" in glow red. Great overall spoon when you need to get down quick with a glow spoon. Another I like is the 1/16 oz or 1/8 oz Northland's "Buck Shot Rattle Spoon"" in glow perch or glow red fish. I have caught both perch and walleye on all these spoons while fishing a hole in the ice.
Jigs...I like to keep it simple. JR's Tackle "Moon Glow" under a dead stick or float works great. Also JR's "Glow Bug" works well for hard to catch perch when it's stuffed with maggots. A lot of times I will also just use a plain red hook under a float with a fathead.
I like 1/8 oz forage minnows, Go Devils, and buckshot spoons for Mille Lacs. For some reason, I always do better on spoons with no rattle on Mille Lacs but the buckshot spoons do still catch fish. For colors I like anything that resembles a perch or something with Green, White, Orange, or Red. I like to downsize to a 1/16 oz forage minnow for perch.
