This past week we have continued to see a few fish caught out of the Red Door Resort. Some days have been better than others while some rain and windy days have kept our guests on shore. Reports have been coming in of some bigger walleye getting caught out on the north end flats. Pulling long lindy rigs tipped with large and jumbo leeches has continued to put the most fish in the boat. Some fish are coming on crank baits trolled off the structures out in 28-32 fow. A few evening reports come in with fish being caught out on the flats bobber fishing. The smallmouth action has been going well in the shallow rocks. We are seeing more muskie fisherman at the resort this month. The warm lake water in the month of August bring out the big fish! Good luck.....
What water temp seems to be the most productive for the walleyes in the fall? Would you suggest leeches or minnows. I have never fall fished Mille Lacs only early season when they seem to be somewhat easy to catch Thanks for any help
First, ya gotta be lucky. Like this guy. Then ya gotta be in the right place at exactly the right time................ After you put enough hours on the lake, you'll know right where to go. ( And NO, it's not following the launch!) The best temperature range for catching feeding walleyes has historically been in the 60=65 degree range. They're down there feeding right now, but there's so many baitfish down there, it separates the real fishermen from the novices quickly.
