A buddy and I were planning on sneaking out tomorrow afternoon and looking for some muskies. I have heard things are slow on Minnetonka with the high water temps.
Has anyone heard of any action close to the cities? White Bear? Waconia?
With the real warm water temps on the metro lakes we decided not to go last Thursday. Reports from other muskie guys was that the fish were not cooperating @ all.
My buddy did go up to Vemillion two week-ends ago and boated 6 with the 2 biggest being 52 and 48.
A lot of the people have stopped fishing muskies due to the temperature of water in metro. Once it cools down, things should be good again.
Metro fishing has been a bit odd this year. The report on Waco is interesting as that is not what I have seen or heard this year. Years past fishing was good, but not so far this year. It has been hit or miss, with more miss. Yes there have been some fish caught, but honestly not what it used to be. Just look at results from Metro Tourney this year compared to previous years. Pressure has been up, results down for most people. It can be worth checking out as option though, so don't take this as I am trying to keep you away.
Tonka had a two week period just before the high heat moved in where people did well. WBL has been a good option until crazy warm up as well. Of course Forest and Bald Eagle are always good options. BE in early AM is best choice for almost guaranteed action. Numbers have been good. Also Minneapolis lakes have been doing better than expected for me.
Fishing has been good for some people on Vermilion. We were up there when supposedly no one was catching anything. We caught 8 fish in three days, up to 51". We had to change up tactics from the norm. When we did, we had lots of follows each day (10-15) and caught fish. The fishing pressure was quite low. We were there 7/19 to 21.
