Fishing Report for 7-11-2011

The walleye fishing on Lake Mille Lacs continues to put fish in the boat for the fishermen. A fair share of keepers to go along with the over 20 inch fish make the fishing on the lake pretty enjoyable. Over the past week the customers in my boat and the patrons of the Red Door Resort on the north end of the lake have caught some pretty nice fish. Enough to take home for a fish fry and some dandy action with the bigger fish being released. The best presentation continues to be lindy rigging the mud flats. Finding active fish either on top of the flat or fishing the edges works best. Bobber fishing the flats is another option to catch some dandy fish. Trolling with lead core and cranks has also put some fish in the boat this past week. The surface temperature of the lake has now reached the upper 70's. On calm days the smallmouth bass are another option if you care to tangle with a real fighter! Those 18-19 inch smallies can really put up a fight!.
