I can't take it any longer. I'm heading to Yellow Lake this weekend to get my walleye fix. hungry.gif It serves as a pregame warmup for the real deal next weekend. But, all I'm thinking about is 3:00 tomorrow afternoon and I'm gone!

Good Luck to all who will be on the water.

It was good. Walleye was a little slow but the crappie bite was ferocious. We gave up on walleye with one 20" in the live well and went after crappies. Everyone in the group went home with a real nice limit.

My brother bought a place just west of Minocqua,  so lots of family in town for the Mother's Day weekend. Also with the crappy spring weather and the need to replace boat decking without a comfy dry place, was still replacing that decking Sun. a.m., so here's how it went for the last couple of days in NC WI.

My bro Barry and I did get out Sat. a.m. on the Flambeau Chain briefly Sat. a.m. for two hours. Two pick-ups and one fish on, but nothing landed. Sunday night I was able to get onto another one of the deep clear lakes in the area and even with cloud cover locating fish was tough. I managed one inside of 11' and when I got her (16"-17") in the boat, she was dropping eggs, so back over she went. I did this for a while in the same area, couldn't get any one else to take and made a big move to the other end of the lake. Once getting into that area, it was apparent that getting to any of my spots without pestering another boat was going to be tough. I was able to sneak toward one of the landings close to one of my good spots, shut my lights down and get over and on to it. There in a about ten casts, I had four on holding the boat in 8'-10' of water and pitching and swimming the jig/minnow combo back to the boat. All were cookie cutter fish of the previous one and dripping eggs as well, so they all went back in the drink. Water temps on this body of water were 43*-44*.

Monday and Tues. nights found me a similar body of water closer to Minocqua searching for fish to get away from the traffic and put together a more aesthetically pleasing Northwoods fishing experience.

Strong SE winds have made boat control a little bit of an issue, but I finally got smart and went to a 1/4oz. jig to get it done and be able to move a little faster in the search on this lake. So far I have found some fish, but size is a real issue as one fish made it to 15" and she was spawned out. Lots of short hits last night, which made me want to drop down in jig size, but I may try to dig out the stingers if I get back to this one in the near future.

Friends coming up to stay on the Sunday night lake, so I will get my fill of it the next three days.

Mark
