Have been hoping to get back that way a couple more times, but this weather is going to have to improve a bit. Been watching the current forecast and the long-term forecast, none of which look spectacular. It's a long 350 miles to go freeze my arse. Can do that right here :)
What part of March do you historically see the larger schools of good fish moving into those near shore structures?
I'm with you on the weather......my feelings on the perch movement is this
Once the weather starts to warm and we get those longer days of bright sunshine! it turns on both the perch movements and our interest's in fishing longer and harder on those days. It takes some effort to drill and hole hop around to catch a bunch of those perch!
This month of March is one of the better months to enjoy the fishing on ice!
Another lovely week of slightly below normal temps, geesh. High of 30-ish right through Saturday with very little sunshine predicted. As much as I would love to get over there and chase the fish around, it is hard to get motivated. Will be interesting to hear the reports from this weekend.
Got out yesterday on the west side of three mile. We got a bunch of perch in the 11 to 13 inch category and even though walleye season is done, we caught a few. Even if ya got to put them back, they're still a blast.
This crap is coming right through my neighborhood on wed. It looks like Mille Lacs will be spared somewhat. Fishing here is impossible without a snow sled and they do not plow roads on any lakes.
Forecast is now looking better to wipe the snow from the lake. My partner is getting pumped as am I...later this week could be the start of the big thaw (fingers crossed). If so, we are going to arrive between Sun eve and Wed eve :)
Way to go Jon, I cannot wait to buy you a cold one! Some Perch and a few walleyes to release. Good job. I bought a very nice Otter portable for next year so I can hang out with you and the 'gang'. See you in early May; I think it is going to be a late ice out and cold open water temps. I will fish the sand with my leeches. That is why I am Malmo Mike.
Weather is looking pretty good for next couple days. I'm heading up to give it the old school try. Looks like tomorrow should great to roam the lake and do some hole hopping.
Maybe old man winter is finally going to cut us some slack? I just need another day to look at the forecast and the decision on what day to arrive will be planned. Really hope that we see some consistency...sunshine...melting...low wind would be nice too )
Kewl. Forecast for our arrival on Tues morning looks passable. Lows around freezing, highs of 40-50 every day and winds under 10mph starting early Tues eve. We can live with that.
