A quick report on what we have seen for ice and fishing this past week.

Ice report....alot of active cracks out on the lake with the warm-up in temps.  Alot of vehicles everywhere on the lake....off road travel as well....just use extreme caution for cracks and heaves...also, the old heaves have a decent amount of snow around them...enough to get a vehicle stuck...so watch out if off roading.  As always, check in with the resort for updated road/ice conditions.

Fishing report....We have continued to find fish on most structure....some days we graphed alot of fish and those fish were very aggressive through-out the day..sliding up and down the structure all day feeding....and other days you had short windows in the morning and again late afternoon for aggressive fish.  These days you have to change all tactics.  First downsizing your jig's...say from a macho minnow to a small forage minnow (gold/perch color) along with downsizing your bait..instead of fathead minnows...switch to a crappie minnow head and slow your jigging down.  I don't know if it was the high pressure, the moon phase, or just negative fish...but if you get a day that you are marking fish that just aren't committing...change it up.  Another thing we noticed on the days where the bite was off was that the fish were still holding to the structure, but off in deeper water.  Sliding our holes out in deep water and going small did produce fish.  Each day is different.....

The mud, deep gravel and deep rock piles all produced fish this past week.  We also started seeing some jumbo perch showing up in the deep water around these structures this past week.  Lots of Tullies around in the deep water as well.

I hope everyone has a great New Years...until next week, we hope to see you on the ice!
