Has anyone been out perch fishing lately? We went out yesterday after walleyes, but were surprised to find some great perch fishing. We had 3 over 13" and 12-15 in the 10-12" range. We caught some on the North end sand, some on the mud, and most of them in the rock to sand transition areas. These fish weren't shy as we were catching the nicer ones on #7 and even a couple on #9 shad raps. Although we ran over some huge schools, we mainly picked up a few here and a few there. Thats a good sign as I think there are a ton of nice perch in Mille Lacs right now. I'm looking forward to chasing them through the ice this winter.
I notice my perch report this time last year was only about 5 posts down on the page, so I take it nobody must fish for them. Ok I guess, more for me.

Havnt been up lately but the times I was up there late summer we always picked up 6-10 jumbos 12-13 every trip fishing for walleyes in the rocks.And almost every one caught was a jumbo.Not much for small ones.Im thinking there is a very good supply of big perch in there as there should be with all the back to back perch hatches over the last few years.Havnt heard of much going on in the bays but there are definitly some big ones out in the main lake.Ill be out looking for a few myself.
