Roach's Guide Service Report 6-2

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.  I wanted to take a second and thank all of you that have served our great country....

I must be getting old...because I spent most of this past Memorial Weekend talking about the weather...how when I grew up, it was never nice on memorial weekend...always cold or raining!  I cannot remember a nicer memorial weekend for weather...and the fish were biting as well.

Our guide team has been all over the lake since my last report.  We have continued to find fish on about every structure on the lake.  As I mentioned in one of my first posts of the season, there are a ton of slot fish in the system right now and they are showing up everywhere.  The past week has been really good bobbering shallow rock piles.  People are having good luck in low light conditions and if there is some wind during the day.  The deeper gravel, mud flats, transition areas around rock piles and even the sand up north have been good this past week.

We have continued to have success with rigging live bait, but again this week you could catch fish anyway you choose.  Spinners, bobbers, rigs, leadcore or shallow running plugs over rocks or sand all produced.

The fish are really relating to bug hatches again this year.  Finding an area with a good hatch coming off the bottom usually will mean there are alot of walleyes close by.  We have noticed this year that the fish are really on the move.  Sometimes marking a good school of fish along a transition area only to find them gone after a pass or two.  Spending some more time with the graph, you will be able to locate the school again. The fish didn't leave, they just slide up or down the structure.

The fishing is getting better and better each week.  Now is a good time to come up to the lake.

Until next week....we hope to see you on the water!

Yes there are hatches going on.....I haven't seen the big mayfly hatch yet...but that is coming, I saw a few mayflys on the boat yesterday afternoon.  Fishing is really good right now...I will put a post up later with more details.
