Well we've heard it and now I've seen it.  I snagged two different gobs of Zebra Mussels on Saturday and a friend snagged another one.  We were fishing a deeper rock structure in 25 fow.  I guess you can say good bye the pretty rock piles in Mille Lacs as they will be covered up in the years ahead......bummer.

The road is unclear just how bad it may get? but its ugly! I have hooked them last year and agin this opener....they are pain when rigging! I think some of them were giving me false bites? many times I fed line to have nothing on the hook? have had any of this happen to you?

I caught a couple of clams covered with zebra mussels way up on the north east end on sunday. What are these things going to do to the lake?

My brother pulled up a few zebra mussels as well as a couple snails.  One thing I noticed is I was getting hung up alot more than usual and it was actually the hook hanging up on something and not the sinker.  By dropping the rod tip and the pulling on the line it popped free most of the time.  In years past I remember getting snagged from time to time, but I never remember the hook snagging.

I could feel the hook catching on them to.  It was like fishing a clam bed on Lake Pepin.  I hear you Bob on the false strikes.  I think it has a lot to do with not feeling that stuff in spots where it never was.

I guess I'm not going to panic at this point.  The great lakes are full of them and the walleye fishing is fantastic there.  It is just sad to see another MN lake deal with an invasive species.

MTT here we come.......
