Slip Knots

What is a good slip not to use when bobber fishing?  I seem to have problems when i get a fish a lot of times my knot will slip when I am bringing in a fish.  I put it on the line tight but then seems to loosen up.   Was wondering if anybody else has this problem or if u have any advise on what to do; tieing a different knot or maybe there is something out there that works better.

Thanks

If your talking about the slip knot for a bobber stop?

It all depends on what type of line was used to make the slip knot it self. I have found that some are very good and others very bad...as far as looseing up and or breaking and coming off your line completely! What I have found to look for are ones that are tightly wound with smaller dia. line used. They apear to work better.....

Like Bobber said the line diameter of the knot line is key. I forget where I got them but had some that had a wax type coating on them and they worked awesome. I will be looking for them again.

I've been using this Dubro line (it use to be yellow) a long time and it doesn't slip.

I make them using real small diameter kids sucker sticks and a finishing nail - easy.

Perrrrrch,

The store brand slip knots are junk in my opinion.  It sounds like Bob and Doug are on the right track with the thread diameter.  I do notice that Thill slip knots are made with thinner line.  I threw all my slip knots away from Gander...they slipped all the time for me up in Ely last year...junk.

Joel,

I can't find them on your website...do you have a link we can use?  I am only seeing "bobber stops" and I am not sure these are what you are referring to...although I have used your stops on my #4 ice line and have never had an issue!

Another thing you can do is to leave the trimmed ends a little longer, long enough to retighten...
