Took the boat for a run today and found the surface temperature to be at 49 deg's. I ran around Lakeside 3/4 mile reef and back home to Picard Point. I saw a pair of Muskies swiming in the baot harbor on my way out!
i would have to bet with those temps already come opener there going to be deeper.
Oh.....been there! I'm thinking with 4 weeks left before opener. We might have better luck on the flats! just kidding.....its going to be a different kind of an opener for sure! We will still get some fish, just might be a bit deeper, as you mentioned!
Bob, tow your boat down to the river and shake off some cabin fever. Yesterday on Pepin I had water temps as high as 67. The bite was good Sunday and should be on fire by next weekend.

Fife, What technigue were you using? Was thinking about going down there in the middle of the week maybe wont be as busy havent been there yet this year. Were u upsteam or down stream from lake city? Walleyes or sauger?
We were trolling with leadcore and we caught fish both North and South of Lake City. The bite was actually tough for most of the day, but we had a 2 hours stretch of mayhem that made up for it. On Saturday we were catching walleyes and on Sunday all of our fish were saugers. Good luck out there.
