Its going to be really warm next week and then the wind and rain are going to come... April 9th!!! Most of our ice is going to disappear next week as our smaller lakes are opening even with this cold snap!!!
Geez that leaves 5 weeks to talk about nothing... Are we able to find the perch or tulibees to pass the time???

Anyone else worried about the ice going off too early, water warming to get the spawn rolling and then having a cold snap and killing off the eggs? Or am I just over thinking.
The Mille Lacs Lake Messenger (editor) declared ICE OUT as April 5, 2010 --
But with several humorous qualifications. The old ice out criteria do not work as accurately as a clear satellite image of ther lake. Go figure. The north / eastside, from Hunter'sPoint north to at least Malmo Bay - my neck of the woods - had mucho ice yesterday. C'est la vie. But the Messenger declard ICE Out 04/05/10. Here is the funny pronouncement: http://millelacsmessenger.blogspot.com/ ICE OUT April5th. Because I said so. For now. Official ice out pronouncement: The ice went out on Mille Lacs between noon and midnight April 5.
