Got out for the daytime bite on Saturday. The current forage base has made finding active fish extremely difficult for my parties. Yesterday was no different. We hit a couple different flats staying away from the pressured areas. We focused from the top of the breaks to about 20-30 feet off the bottom of the break. We found a ton of perch and tubliee stacked in most spots. We were able to entice quite a few, but couldn't get the size to match our aspirations. Other spots we found large marks that would come in and investigate our baits, but would give up very quickly after a short investigation. All in all, finding the fish was the easy part... finding active fish proved to be difficult. Hope others are having better luck than we have been having!
My neighbor wanted to move his wheel house yesterday and asked me to find him a spot. Well after telling him that things were on the slow side....I took alook anyhew! I thought about some rock to sand transistions and located a spot not far from sandy/mud bottom with nice sized rock on and around the spot. Well he and another neighbor caught 2 nice slots at sunset last night along with acouple of perch. The wheelhouse is in 19 FOW not far off of a Hunters Point road! I guess, go figure...if you want to try something....reach out and try something you think should be good as this spot appears to be!!! we will see with a few more trips out! They were jigging a 1/4 oz spoon's and also had set lines on rattle wheels!
Maybe fishing the reefs closer to shore might be a better option?
Thanks Bobber. That is good information. I am passing it along to my brothers as well. 19-20 FOW sounds pretty good to me if it is producing some activity - especially on a transition.
Got 6 really nice perch on the mud today 2/4/10, honest 11 and 12 inchers, very fat. Also some large tullibees and a 15" walleye. Perch are getting better each time out. Lots of small fish that don't want to hit most of the time. This was all off the deep edge of the flat, about 10 yards from the bottom of the break. Mostly jigging spoons (Buckshot, gold Vingla and blue Ronnie Bird), the deadsticks were not doing much today.

Anyone have any recommendations? We'll be in a house at Twin Pines on the 26th. How many miles out should we fish? Any luck on the NW side in February so far?
