Bob and I wrapped up our summer tournaments over the weekend fishing the last MTT 2 day out of Hunters Point. Saturday we started off fishing shallow rock reefs fishing 3-4 fow with bobbers. Bob had a pretty decent bite going while pre-fishing these areas. Cloud cover and wind direction helped this bite as we didn't do so well with the clear sky and little wind. We headed for the north flats to pull leadcore by 9am. We found fish all over the top and shelves of these flats. The fish on the top seemed to be more aggressive. We pulled #7's at 18-19ft in 20-22 fow. Color played and huge roll in numbers with the blue and white producing best for us. We boated 25 fish on Saturday with only 2 over fish for the day which really surprised us. Most of the fish where in the 13-16 range. On Sunday we fished the same areas with clear skies again but had a nice wind. We did not get as many fish on Sunday (about 10) but they where nice slots. Our boat speed was a little more challenging but when your fishing with a seasoned pro like Bobber, he gets them dialed in (speed at just over 2mph). Lots of fish came to the scale both days with 4 fish limits for at least half the field. Water temp was in the 68 degree range. The cooler water temps has really kept the floating fish to a minimum this summer. The fish we caught on the north flats are as healthy and fat as I have ever seen. We weighed one of our 16" at 1.7lbs. It was a great weekend to be on the water and a nice way to finish off the tournament season. I am Looking forward to next year already.
