less than 10 days. I never thought it would get to single digits on the countdown.
what do you do on the opener. I usually bobberfish in the early and evening and pull rigs in the sand during the daylight. leeches are my choice for bait with plain hooks.
do many people go to the flats on opening weekend? time to start packing.

Water temp pretty much tells me where to start and what I am going to try. Colder water 45 degree range keeps me shallow and slow present, like bobbering. Warmer water and hopefully fish on the graph puts me deeper and should be more aggrssive fish. The lighting of the day will throw some spin in it also. But I prefer bobber fishing opener. Just to many boats especially if the fish are shallow.

welcome to the site and good post.

I pretty much do the same thing. biggrin It just works for me, year after year.  Our group has done well on some of the northern flats on opening weekend.  It's not the first spot I'd try, but if that's where the fish are.....

I try and stay away from the crowds. Like Willy, the northern flats and other small rock structures are spots I look for. When you still fish near other boats and happen on a few fish, your not alone for long. Be safe and good luck.

What are the opinions on fish size early season. Are the 16/18 " fish class good numbers?

The sand will typically produce fish in the 10-20" range.  Just be ready to cover a lot of ground to find them.  It's best when the wind allows you to make 1-2 mile drifts.  Target areas and depths that you mark and catch fish.
