This past weekend was a tough one for most. Believe it or not, some had a good weekend with the jumbo's but not the case for most. They are hit or miss right now. Some larger walleye's are showing up, these showed up in a few of the rental houses and from a some out in portables. The roads are all open and in good shape. Feel free to post your fishing report and lets try and figure these fish out.
first of all !! George you have top notch operation. beside's that we went out to fisher's flat friday & fished all day & stayed over night --( Nothing, marked fish on the camera but would not respond) then move to 3-mile same thing small 3-4 inch perch all over, small baby perch coming up the hole etc. sad to say but the lake has all the feed the eye's want !! the perch contest will be very interesting!!
Fishing was brutal for our group. We fished Saturday 8 guys for 10 hours and iced maybe 10 perch. I did see some successful fisherman on Saturday and right before I headed home on Sunday, go figure. Be back to take another crack at it in a dozen days or so.
pretty much the same for me went up on friday and saturday stayed on the ice both days. Caught about 1/2 dozen perch. It was very slow for most people that i talked to. I'll have to just try again this coming weekend they have to get hungry sometime.
We were out on the banana from friday till sunday and iced 2 nice eyes in the slot and 2 pretty nice jumbo's . saw a few big eyes on the camera but sniffed the bait and kept moving . caught all fish on rainbows and shinners and using the whole minnow on rattle reels. both walleyes in the middle of the day . Sunday we went mobile out to the saddle and the sliver graphed fish but no takers .
A couple perch from the weekend. I didn't do too bad, but they are hard to detect. A camera really comes in handy. I'll be back up this weekend to give it another shot!
Hey pyker.....I can tell you my secret method ani't been working ! That would be jiggin and cussin at them when they swin away. I been bringing in tons of small ones but not the jumbos..........
I have had zero success on perch this year, but have only tried 2 times.
A trick that has worked in the past when fishing perch is to go against the book.
jig them down instead of up and put the jig in the mud or on the bottom and bounce it while keeping it on the bottom. You have to use your camera and watch the fish suck it up and set the hook.
