I visited with George and Nate this am about the current lake conditions out of Hunters Point. They have 5 inches out as far as 2 1/4 mile reef. The bad part is that there are areas between there and shore where they have found as little as 2 1/2 inches. That being the case...and with the snow cover we have it need's to freeze up some b4 we all head out and start running around the lake. The lake crew plans to spend time in the next few days to drill holes and scout out the areas out front of Hunters and check ice depths looking for more of these areas of concern. I'm sure they will find more......
I plan to stay on shore for now and let the lake guys do their job out there. No hurry to catch the walleye just yet...better to be safe and dry!!!
If you have any plans to head out on the ice. Please check with a resort for the most up to date conditions......be safe and wait till the condtions are safe for all of us.
After all the lake has only had ice on it......for just a few days short of a week!!!!
What I was told last night was that the areas of concern that had measured 2 1/2 inches now measures 5 inches!! Thats not saying that we don't have some concerns on the ice. The heavy snow is causing the ice to flood when you drill a hole. The main road straight west of the resort has been staked and the lake guys have been flooding water on the ice.
