Its been a while since I have posted my fish house build and plans were posted on this site obviously for free as we all can help one another. Ive had two people use our exact plans which was positive feedback. I do check this site when free time allows.... My question may seem stupid for most or all, but its viable in my mind and I value all input. I will never be the best fisherman, but i enjoy my ice time (non-pressure fishing, older aged gentleman ice time!
Here goes:
I am verry lucky to own a Panoptix Livescope and love it, NOT the price tag. I never thought of throwing my older flashers transducer units down the ice hole and turn it to 90 degrees shooting parallel with the ice, and crank depth to max... then play with gain to see a suspended back reflection. I truly understand the limits of common flashers/sonar units to the minimal of my caveman extent. But, has anyone affixed a transducer to a rod or something and put it just under the ice and scanned (meaning rotating it 360 degrees sideways not facing down (at something desireable depending on depth) and cranking gain to attempt to see a fish or school that would not normally be in a standard down view cone angle, but suspended? If so, what were your results and equipment used?
I should have tried this before the massive purchase of the Livescope LVS32...or not? Your valued thoughts ladies and gentlemen?
