Update on 2018-2019 Ice Formation:

We finally have Isle Bay pretty well covered in an ice flow with fresh snow ~~ although a bit rough due to northerly winds pushing the ice flow into the shore areas.

  • the Garrison Bay Twin Pines area and MirMar now have ice formation out from shore for 300-500 yards it appears;
  • on the East Side shore ice appears over all bay and marina areas at:
  • Appledorn's,  (ice cover is visible for 1/2 mile out)
  • Hunter's Point,
  • Agate Bay and
  • Fisher's Resort  -- are covered in Thanksgiving week ice cover.
  • Red Door Marina is ice covered as well of course.

Stay safe on the tricky early ice !

Good Luck to the East SIde Community!

It looks like we are very close to Mille Lacs Lake being totally ice covered. Over six inches of ice reported in Isle Bay areas by Chapman's in late November and now ATV's on on some parts of Isle Bay.

At Twin Pines the ice is also looking good a long way out there as well as on Fellegy's NW MyrMar web cam views..

The satellite view was clouded over yesterday but we must be very close to full ice cover.

Be safe out there and drill a few test holes!

Have fun,

Update Friday 12-07-18:

Several Resorts now have their access roads open expecting ATV or other traffic.

Red Door 's web cam now is directed to their access road to the ice which is open today.

There are quite few portable fishing houses now on Isle bay - at least 10 to 15 portables or light weight rigs out there.

Good luck,

MM Malmo Mike

Ice Fishing 2018-2019:

Everyone I have spoken with in Isle and East Side areas has had a good walleye bite.

My brother is fishing in the Catch a Duck event at Garrison this weekend (going up tomorrow) so I hope

to hear how the Perch bite might be looking.

Go Jumbos!
