Congrats to Josh Hukriede and Bobber Carlson on their win up at Lake Of The Woods. Maybe Bobber can give us a little article here how they pulled this off after they clean out a spot for the new Skeeter.
Thanks for the comments! it was a blast winning the championship with Josh. He did a great job running the boat in some very difficult conditions. catching that 11.40# was something special!!! I think….we had alittle help from above!

Great looking walleye Bobber.
WOW he is huge and quite a girth as expected! Nice work to you and Josh.
I hope to see you next week at Red Door on my Fall visit.
Have fun with that Skeeter rig, HA!

Malmo Mike must have taught you guys all of his secrets.
WTG Fife. I learned it all from You and Tony Roach of course. If you go fishing with Tony a few times your skills go up about 300 per cent (although I am biased.) Here is an example:

Well Doug,
Here is my recap of our week! Josh and I caught fish pre-fishing but not anything that was the norm..small slots and the crank baits did not work? Each day our best presentation was a frozen shiner minnow on a jig. It didn't matter what part of the lake we fished...it was a jig and minnow. The cold fronts and winds made it a difficult week to say the least. By Tuesday we had a plan and prepared for the first day which again called for wind! Josh rigged a short rope that I could hold on to with my left hand...the right hand would be firmly gripped on the rail on the right side of the YarCraft !!! ah...Doug Palmer made a statement after the tourney that cowboys ride a bull for 8 seconds and its something special!! well "I rode the bull" for over 1 hour on Thursday and around 2 hours on Friday. That's how long it took to get to our spot. And I also need to mention that we drove through a hail storm on Thursday heading up to the Islands......crazy stuff! Josh did a unbelievable job running his boat with the conditions we experienced! He also did a nice job looking after this old man! He once tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was allright!....what he didn't notice is I had my hood on my guidewear in my mouth completely covering my face!! at times the ride was brutal. Each day our plan was to get our slots and make a move to go after a big fish. Well on Friday our plan worked!! We were in the second flight on Friday and talked about how much time we needed to allow us to get in for the weigh in. The plan was to pull anchor at 3:15 pm and head in from the hump we were on.......well the 11.40# monster bit my jig at 3pm and all was history. You will always here that the big fish will win the tourney....it did it again this time. It was really special to win this event with Josh. And I know his dad Tim was looking down at us with the biggest smile anyone could possibly have.
This truly was a very special time for me in my life.

Awesome finish to the 2014 tourney season. Good luck for 2015! You guys rock.
It is great to see Mille Lacs Lake fisherman and wonderful friends have such a tremendous result in MTT Championship series and overall season. WOW, that is so cool.
Sorry you had to 'ride the bull' on LOW there Bob, but thanks for telling the great tournament story for your friends. it is a good thing you had a veteran like Josh driving that boat! We all have had that experience on Mille Lacs as well and it is a challenge on those days.
