My parents have a cabin on the east side of Mille Lacs near Hunters Point.  My daughters and I get out about a half dozen weekends a season, many times with their friends who haven't fished much.  We have a pontoon with a 40hp to use, but I'm not real comfortable taking it our two to three miles out on the lake.  My goal is to get fishing action for the kids.  Am I best trying for bass or walleye?  We've been fishing a dropoff near the point from 18 to 27 feet with leeches and lindy rigs with little luck.  What am I missing?

I found this fishing report from the eastside Fishers Resort. Have not been out there personally so this is the best I can do for help. Good Luck

Fishing has been a little tough the last couple of weeks, but you can still get in to them, you just have to work a little harder. There were a lot of bugs hatching which kept them full and the major cold front slowed them down. Lead core seems to be the most productive in the mornings for our guide trips. Bobbering at night has been a little quite, but it is bound to turn around. They are marking a lot of fish! Try spinners off of the edges of the flats, some have reported that to be productive. Have a great rest of your week and we hope to see you up here! Fish on!!!
