The reports around the resort are mixed. Some are catching a few fish while others are struggling. The water temperature has been around the 40 degree mark so far this open water season. About 10-12 degrees lower than normal, but than what’s normal these days!
The methods used so far have been rigging minnows, and bobber fishing with minnows and leeches. Colored glow hooks have been used with some success by customers at the resort. Shinner and fatheads have been the minnows of choice. Most of the reports are coming from the shallow depths off shore so far. Once the water temperature gets up into the 50's we should start to here of some mud flat action.
Lets hope for some warmer weather, it will improve the fishing and our attitudes! At least it will with mine...
her bober i going to be up there at the door next week and i was wondering in front of the door when you move off the rocks right off shore does that transition to sand or mud
ok bob ill do that we are going up on the 29the and saying tell the 2the .....I just wondered if that was sand or mud past the rocks I have a prob seeing the difference on my bird
The same pattern held up today. 8-13ft. along the sand breaks with bobbers and leeches or minnows--west of Doc's. ( but the whole area along the north end is about the same)
Steve and bob what do u look for to find the spot on the spot .......is an inside turn good or out side ......or doyou want to have a sharp brake
Don't out think yourself. Quite often the fish are where they are for no reason --unlike per the books we read--which they ( the fish) never have read. Just go fishin'. I have been putting the anchor in randomly along the gradual slopes of the north shore Wealthwood area and quite often running into fish, that are most likely just swimmin' along and bump into me. Sure--there are spots on the spots at times. But more times than not---just go fishin'. In this shallow water you can't look for them without fishing for them.
Right now, the biggest issue I see many having is they are fishing too close to the boat.... making too much noise also.
In deeper water however--I never put a line in the water until I see the fish on the graph. Never......
