I'm not sure what happened Saturday night, if it was the traffic on the lake or what, but the fishing just shut off dead. We caught 15 fish Friday night into Saturday morning but had only 2 bites Saturday night. Did anybody else see the same thing?
We fished out of the Red Door in 30 fow about a 1/4 mile north of weimer flat and caught 15 also, but it was from about 3:30 Sat. night until about 8:00 Sunday morning. The rattle reels caught 13 of the 15 with only 2 coming on the spoons. We were using small shiners with a plain red hook. We also missed quite a few, it seemed like we had to give them about three runs before setting the hook or we would come up with a bare hook.
Same thing here on Sat on the east side. Had 3 bites at prime time and caught 2 during the Vikings "game". Sunday, however, was fantastic. Caught 14 fish between 2 and 6pm - about half were keepers. No perch on either day - which was surprising considering where I was set up. Maybe next time!
We fished Saturday 8:00am until about 7PM in Hunters Guide C house in 31fow. We got one nice walleye in the morning and then it went dead until about 5PM.
We fished rainbow and chub minnows on red or chartreuse hooks. I also tried jigging extensively with macho minnow and forage minnow jigs tipped with a small minnow. no luck. There was not much on my Marcum Showdown Sonar all day -- until the evening school of fish came through.
No bites at all during daytime hours.
Then between 5PM - 6PM - we got two walleyes and I got a jumbo perch as some fish came through. Finally.
We wended up with 2 keepers and one perch. I was surprised that jigging did not produce more jombo perch -- but at least we got 2 keepers out what we caught.
My 8 year old son and I snuck out Saturday evening. We got there at 5 and fished till 8. Had 2 fish take the bobber just under the water, but we came up empty. Found out my ice ducer doesn't work though. I barely had it more than a year. My father in law lost the receipt so now I guess I have to come up with another 100 bucks for a new one. Sucks not catching any fish and not knowing if anything is there or not.
