The walleye fishing on Mille Lacs Lake has been pretty good the second week into the season. Some fish are still coming from the shallow break lines along the north and northeast corners of the lake. The mud flats are producing some fish also these days. Pulling long rigs 8-12 foot long with colored hooks have been the best presentation. Although some fish are starting to go on spinners! The weather has had its ups and downs as of late. The evening bobber bite is a option these days also, some fish are coming just before 10pm curfew. Those that have braved the rain and winds have cleaned some fish in the fish cleaning shack. The buckets are not as full these days as they were on the opener, but we are still filling buckets. The big holiday weekend is upon us and the leaves are finally full on the trees. It’s time now to make a trip up to lake and catch some Mille Lacs Lake walleye. Business around The Red Door Resort has been hopping. The new Waypoint Café has been serving up the great meals for the customers and don’t forget they now offer bag lunches for in the boat.
