Opener T-minus 28 days.

Lets get our minds off what is happening currently at the lake and talk about the opener itself. Who all plans to fish that weekend and tell us a little about your planned strategy. I plan on going out at day break and do the traditional bobber fishing the rocks for a couple hours then heading to the sand to drag some fish up. biggrin

Malmo Mike will be fishing my usual areas in the sand and rock piles of the famous Malmo Bay.... the Deadliest Catch theme song will bring 'em right in...

Spinner rigs and jumbo leeches from Vados...pre-game breakfast on Friday at Sunrise Cafe...

Where do you get your leeches? I have in the past picked them up at prince bait. Been good quality stuff but i am no expert.

It is probably not on your flight path, but I always get mine at:

Vados Bait, Hwy 65, Spring lake Park....then haul my ass to Mille Lacs.

Their bait and the entire shop are excellent; they have been there for many years (60 years) and the jumbo leeches are outstanding.

You can pre-order / ship too for any bait at Vados:

7895 Highway 65 Northeast Minneapolis, MN 55432
(763) 784-6728

Have fun and see you at Vados, MM

Rod's Bait is at the main junction entering Isle, MN on Hwy 47. (South East Side or corner of Mille Lacs)

It is the junction Hwy 47 and East Main Street of Isle (Hwy 27 goes west & Hwy 47 goes on the Eastside of Mille Lacs) ...

Considered a good local bait shop. MM

I will vouch for both vados and rod's. If coming from the cities, vados is the only way to go. That's no longer the case for me, now. But, I tried rod's this winter and he was the only one that had what I needed. I go there exclusively now.
