January 13th, 2012 Finally, the temps have dropped low enough and will be there long enough, we hope, that all the main like ice will not float around anymore.
We now have rentals on the fish and many private houses on their spots!
With that, we have our access open to full-size vehicles/ATV's and sleds. That said, we are dealing with 12 to 13.5 inches of ice and will be limited to trucks no bigger than half tons. Full-size SUV's are fine. 3/4 ton/one tons etc. need a few more days of cold to add another inch of ice--at least. We are hoping we will have 14" by Wednesday or Thursday of this coming week and be able to open the ice travel to all sizes of pick-ups at that point or at least by next weekend.
We are allowing wheel-house access with the half tons/full-size SUV's or smaller pulling them. NO exceptions! Don't be sorry--be safe!
Keep in mind, we had 3-4 foot waves on the lake less than a half mile from our access to the south, west and southwest yesterday, January 12th.
PLEASE DO NOT VENTURE TO THE SOUTH, WEST AND SOUTHWEST OF OUR ACCESS! WE HAVE STAKES BORDERING THE BAD STUFF. PLEASE RESPECT THOSE ORANGE MARKERS AND STAY TO THE EAST OF THEM.
In other words--DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCESS ANY MUDFLATS NOR THE KNOX POINT AREAS.
If and when it is safe to venture west and south, we will update everyone here. In the meantime, ALWAYS check with the office before you venture onto the ice for up to the minute conditions.
So, again, THANK YOU all for your patience the past few weeks. Now.....LET'S GO FISHING!!!
