First let me say that the lake continues to challenge us and many others with cracks, thin ice and still some open water.
The good news is that if you can find good ice...the perch and walleyes are hungry. Our guide team has been on the ice everyday this week. We are still staying close to shore and working the shoreline breaks. Weed lines edges...sharp shoreline breaks....shallow and deep have produced fish this week.
Gold/Silver Macho Minnows or Buckshots have been the best this week. Keeping your lures small has also helped turn alot of nice perch. Minnow heads for walleyes with perch mixed in.....or Euros if you want to catch more perch than walleyes. Aggressive jigging 2-3 feet off the bottom has been the best to bring the fish in....but letting them tell you what action they want after they are on the Marcum is key. A good starting rule is the faster the fish moves towards your spoon the more aggressive your jigging can be. Moves slowly....you do the same.

It really depends on the day....some days this past week we have had really good fishing around noon...others have been slower. The most consistent bite right now day in and day out is the first 3 hours in the morning and the last 2 hours in the evenings. I would make sure you are deeper mid-day to find a better bite.
