The fishing on Mille Lacs Lake has been slow for the most part. A few successful reports are coming into The Red Door Resort. Those that are having some luck have been fishing the north end break and the north end mud flats. Pulling lead core and crank baits has been an option as are slip bobbers and leeches. The shallow rocks have also been a good option for some walleye action.
The smallmouth have been a good option to try. Look for shallow rocks along shore in the 8-14 foot areas. On some days you might have to go deeper in the 12-14 foot areas. Over the past week I have seen the water temperatures vary from 72-76 degrees. Overall the fish cleaning shack tells the tale of the decline in success. The fall action is just around the corner with the September full moon on the 12th - just a little over three weeks away. Make plans for the October "Harvest Full Moon" on the 11th. It might have been named the Harvest for the farmers, but it’s a great time to harvest some big walleyes!
Thanks for the report Bobber, always appreciated! I like hearing about the smallies too, been tracking them this summer and have had a blast - along with my 7 year old!
