Ain't it frustrating to see all the fish on your graph, but ya just can't get 'em to bite?
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger.
They're down there, but the big problem with getting them to bite is: There's just too much food for 'em this time of year. And they got a REAL attitude. Walleyes gorge themselves this time of year and summer accounts for 75% or so of their total growth.
They school up and always follow their food source, which is abundant this time of year. First and second year perch, crayfish, leeches, larger insects in the larvae stage. Just finding a school doesn't mean they're feeding. That's one thing the most expensive graph you can buy won't tell you.( If they're hungry or not.) Look for the ones that are in the middle of a school of baitfish, or a transitional area of rock to mud this time of year.
The flats are an exception to the feeding rule. In order to find hungry fish on the mud flats, you need to try both the tops and off the edges.
