The reports are still coming in with pretty good results from Lake Mille Lacs. The sand on the north end of the lake west and east of the Red Door Resort has been producing some nice fish. The rocks to transition sand has been good west of the resort as well. The depth of this transition area is from 13-19 fow. Pulling long lindy rig’s has been the “go to” presentation. The north end flats have also been putting out some nice fish pulling lindy rig’s on the edges.
The evening bobber bite is still a very good option also. The best times have been from 8pm to just before 10 pm. The night ban has been lifted and fisherman are now allowed to fish past the 10 pm hour. The bobber bite on the shallow rocks still remains another option. Having some wind will help with the presentation. Bobber fishing the flats can be another choice. So I guess the list is long as to what one might want to do if you plan a trip to the lake. Which ever one you select, make sure and pack the filet knife as you will most likely need it. The fishing is great! Time to make the trip to Mille Lacs Lake.
The first pic is Rachel with her very first walleye! shown with her father Chad! love those smiles!
The second pic is Chad's son Andy and one of his many walleyes he landed while bobber fishing the other evening!
Those kind of things, like catching a first walleye, walking a first step, learning how to ride a bike, etc. are milestones in a kid's life. It's great to see, isn't it Bobber?
Yes T2J you are sooo right! I had the opportunity to guide Chad and his son Andy last summer. On this trip Andy caught his first walleye at the young age of 6 years!! Well this trip was scheduled with Rachel in mind........being that she was not to be left out on the fishing stories being told! and yes....she jumped right in on the catching walleye deal! My plan is to get Rachel and Andy in the boat another time, and maybe get Rachel to grab hold of one of those walleyes and hold it up high in the photo for me......at this point.....she's all girl....which is just fine! Andy on the other hand, well he's becoming a seasoned walleye fisherman!!!!
