The walleye fishing continues to be really good on Lake Mille Lacs. The evening bobber bite is productive during the last hour or so from 8:30 pm to just before 10 pm. The daytime bobber bite has also been ok with some wind. The action has been in the shallow rocks in 8-12 fow. Fishing the breaks on the north end sand continues to be the go to method that I am recommending. Pulling long lindy rigs tipped with large to jumbo leeches have been really good. Controlling your speed is important, maintaining your speed at less than 0.5 mph can be the difference in catching fish or not. The 15' -17' break has been the best for this presentation. The water temperature has been creeping up to around the 50-52 deg. mark

Got the day off today! I'll be drifing the break today. Water temps are getting warmer and the fish are starting to get their appetites and their strength back from the spawn. I've been releasing alot in the 18-20" range, but so far for the year, my boat has been getting close to 50% keepers. Alot of large males this year!

Thanks Doug for the great slides. WOW some Big As* walleyes there! We had walleye filet dinner last night and Kathy (the Mermaid Princess) said it was my best walleye cooking job ever. On that note I told her I was going back home for more!

smilebiggrinwink

So of course I am coming back to Mille Lacs Lake on 6/23/11 to catch some more. It looks like the bite and water temps are improving. Way cool.

Congratulations to Gregg on that monster walleye on 05/15/11. WTG Gregg. I was glad to get a couple of good keepers. smilesmilesmile

We had three inches of hail this morning in Black Forest,Colorado. It sucks...rain is fine but the hail sucks...it ruins all the trees that are just budding out. So much for my apple crop this year. What a crazy year of weather and severe storms. nodisbeliefhmm

Just got off the lake. We're down by the Reddick Creek culvert. We drifted the break with red hooks and 7' snells.

Yep. Plus we got a couple on top. The creeks are rushing pretty good with all the rain. It;s a good bait source.

Reddick Creek culvert? Is that the culvert just to the East of Barnacle Bills? If so, never knew the creek's name....
