Early season pike on ML?

I have always done well for walleyes over opener and early season but have yet to find any pike.  Do you need to stay in the few bays closer to shore or am I just not targeting them correctly?

I have caught a few in the early season over the years. I would say that 95% of them I have caught, have been on the rocks. I got them real good one year in particular trolling #7 shad raps in 9-12 feet on the rocks. I was trying for eyes, but ended up hammering the pike.

I cant buy a Pike on Mille Lacs until August. I dont even target them anymore before then. But that's just me.

LOOK IN SMALL BAYS FOR GREENEST WEEDS YOU CAN FIND.MACS,MALONE ISLAND PORTSIDE AREA,VINELAND,THROW MEPPS GIANT KILLERS,LARGE SPINNER BAITS.GOOD LUCK.biggrin
