I wanted to put a quick report of what we have experienced this week out there.
First ice....the lake is in great shape right now. I know coming out of hunters, there is a road to almost every flat...and if a person wants to go off road that is an option too with very little snow on the lake. Caution on off roading...there are still active cracks to watch out for....so, as always....check with the resort before heading out.
Fishing Report
Good news is that each day this past week we caught more and more perch. Some really nice jumbo perch that are spitting up alot of bugs. Crappie minnows or eurolarva....some decent sized christmas trees on the Marcum for this early in the season. More good news in that the morning and evening hours continue to produce a decent amount of walleyes. Again...macho minnows, forage minnows....gold...seem to be the most consistent day in and day out.
Not every spot we checked this week was holding fish. This is the time of year that it is important to get away from the crowds. With limited amount of aggressive fish on a spot....competing with alot of other people for those fish makes it tough. Same thing as last week out there....early morning the fish are on the edge, top edge and top. By mid morning this week we saw all the fish slide off the structure and hang in the deep water. Bottom edge and 10-20 yards off the bottom break. Perch, walleyes, and tullies for the mid-day...then sliding back up on top for the evening bite.
Deep Gravel, deep rocks and mud flats all produced fish this past week.
Good luck this weekend...until next week, we hope to see you on the ice!
Excellent Scott. You can post those kind of WALLEYES any ole time. Nice Walleyes!
