Opener Report

What a great opener. The weather was fantastic. I asked for wind more than a couple times this weekend. That doesn't happen often when I am out there. I could go without direct sunlight for a few days also. The fishing was pretty darn good for our group on the eastside. Fish where found  pretty much everywhere. Rocks had them in the mornings and evening. Sand on the northend put out some really nice fish for us mid morning. Various humps and bumps from Hunters Point to the north sand produced in depths from 12-25 ft. The fish are healthy and there seems to be a good population of 16" fish. I tested the live feed a few times and have a little work to do to make that project better. Looking forward to next weekend already. Sorry for the short report but I am needing some recliner time.

The plan to go out at 5:00am panned out. A few of the people we know who went out at midnight didn't have the same success we did.  We fished rocks the whole weekend and our group of three was limited out by 11:30am Saturday. 8 of those fish came between 10-11:30.  We primarily targeted 17-18 fow. Our biggest fish was a 27.75" in 18 fow.  This was definitely a great opener and was well worth the wait.

Usually when we caught one fish a second was right behind it. Like they where in pairs and monkey see monkey do.

I agree, Doug. When we found active fish, that's where we stayed.

On hooks in the rocks, if I can jump in.... we had good luck with a Red Gamu and also Pink or Firetiger jigheads.... tipped with a Large Black Leech !!!

We were rigging. 8' snell, plain hook, and large leech. The jumbos did not work! The big fish bit on a somewhat smaller leech, yet. To rate the size of leech, a large leech was about 4-5" long swimming. Keep the speed slooowww.
