100 lb Propane Tanks?

Helping out a bud on this question.

He is looking for a 100 lb propane tank.  Is $150 for a NEW tank that is filled a decent deal? (From a private seller) Looks like used tanks are in the $50 range.  What is the cost locally to fill a 100 pounder?

Jason ( Hunter's Point ) just today told me $75.00 to top off one of my 100 pounders. You should still double check with him though.

Jon,

$150 sounds reasonable if it is full.
Make sure it has the right type of refill valve if he is planning to have it charge at Hunters.

And now that I think about it... don't they ALL fill with the old screw in threads ??? Even the new style ones, I get filled that way ???

You are right Glen, but not all valves have the built in relief vent.
I never notices a difference until George had to switch out one of mine last year.
