Well after repairing the boat lift/Dock all day sunday from the strong winds we finaly had a chance to fish for a couple hours
Wahkon bay 8:10pm 11' water landed 16",16.5",17.25",17.5"21",23.5" & several 6" perch by 9:40 pm.We had on 2 more fish that were probly not in the slot.Fished the drops outside of the big rocks where it's mostly gravel/sand.
Every walleye spit out a fresh perch
We used 1/8oz 50% green 50% pink jig tipped with a medium-large leech that jig got every walleye. We tried 3 different color jigs with no luck.Green was about the color of your lawn.
While working on the dock we had a chance to see many muskie swimming in the shallows with a couple near or over the 50" mark.Several times we seen 1 close to 50" with 3-6 smaller males in hot persuit. On 1 occasion while in my waders i had maybe 35" -37" muskie rub up against me.Was not so sure i wanted to put my hands in the water at that point for a few minutes
Great report Brian, Thanks. I wish the fish would have gone during the day like you had them going. You're not the only one that would be leary about putting there hands in the water with those muskies swimmin around.
You know i tried all green Jig all pink jig and green/chartruece after i cut that pink/green jig off and set it up on friends rod..Results were O and he got 3 eyes in like 10 minutes on pink/green
Just dont seem right for this time of year but it is what it is i guess
Also it was the only pink/green jig i had (Go Figure) I had like 20 of every thing else.I picked up 18 pink/green jigs i'll bet next outing they wont work
On the muskie
Most of the smaller ones (males i asume) sure had plenty what looked liked teeth/bite marks all over the place.1 hung around the dock most of the day in 16" water about 10lbs i guess and it had a red spike tag about 1 1/2" - 2" .Any one know what year class they did red tags or all the muskie tags red?
