We will be headed to the bid pond on Thursday (2/5/09) for a long weekend. Staying in an ice house and looking for up todate fishing reports. I am sure that if we can track George down at the bar at checkin, he will give us the latest info, but if anyone else is willing to help out, we would appricate it.
JP, I was up last weekend. We fished 3 mile and also 2 mile transition areas. Lots of little perch and little walleyes to be caught. On camera, I seen quite a few jumbos, but getting them to bite was tricky. The one jumbo I did ice, came on a green ant, tipped with Larva. Seems they were not that interested in a fathead on a spoon. Seen 1 really nice walleye, right when we set-up, that was it for them..... had a rather large northern attack my sunfish camera, he didn't come back for another bite, but did take a look again !!! A few tulibees were caught also. We were in the 30' of water areas. I will say it was a beautiful day to be out on the ice, 30'F + with little wind !!!! Good luck and have fun !!!!
Also going up on Thursday with 10 guys, first time for most of us on Mille Lacs. Does anyone know where you can get roads maps of the lake to figure out where all of the land marks are that people talk about. Are there any online? Does anyone have any good references for bait shops too.
S.E. MN, What resort are you fishing from, they will be your best place for information. We will be staying with George at Hunters Resort and make our beer/bait stop at Johnson Portside. They have a great selection of bait, tackle and drinks. Then we head to Hunters and check in.
Once I get all the bills paid, we have a drink and break out the map and ask questions. This is our 3rd year out of Hunters and I have not be disappointed with the service from George or his staff.
Sorry, not a lot of good information for you except talk to the resort you are fishing out of, they will be able to provide the updated road maps and fishing reports.
