Just got my first report on the conditions from our guys out checking the ice today. they were almost out to 2 mile and they had consistant good ice 8inches thick!!!! Things are looking really good out here for getting out on foot or ATV.
There is about 4 inches of snow right now. We made it out to 2 1/4 and have good ice to there ranging from 8-10 inches. Going on the north road we have good 8 inches of ice to copsville half way between Copsville and Dawson we have 2" of ice covering an area of a few football fields.
Thanks for the report Jason. It was good seeing you yesterday at the ice show. This is Rhett, I was there with Gregg. It sounds like we have some good plans in place for the Trip in Jan.
Bobber mentioned there was some small areas of open water out front of his place Saturday morning. Those are probably the 2" spots the guys are finding out their. Hopefully the snow holds off and we can get a couple more single digit nights of ice making yet to help the cause. Thanks for the info Jason, keep'em coming.

I was able to see 5 or 6 area's on Friday afternoon just Southwest of Picard Point (lakeside) and west towards Lakeside 3/4 mile that were still open. When I left the house just after daylight on Saturday morning there was only one of these area still visible as open water yet. So these areas were in the process of freezing over. I would guess that these spots were some less than a football field and some much larger.
The forecast looks good for increasing our ice depths!!
A buddy and I fished the south end of the lake today - plenty of ice and the walleyes were biting in 18 fow, perch in 10-12 fow. If you think you're jigging too much.....jig MORE!! Be safe!
Well we've been out exploring more today finding similar results as yesterday. those spots we found with 2 inches yesterday now have 3 1/2" on them now. Now for even better news AS WE SIT HERE THE GUYS ARE ON THEIR WAY TO THE BOOT!!!!!! they are staking out a road and finding consistant 9" of ice.
