Question: Are Mille Lacs anglers this summer having success because the lake’s walleyes are more plentiful than the Department of Natural Resources believes? Or is the bite hot because perch and other forage fish are in short supply?

Probably both.....

The DNR had a long net, maybe 80-100 yards long across Big Point all last weekend.  Caught me a little off guard.  Almost trolled right into that thing!  The DNR should post up net locations on their website.  Not used to seeing them mid season.
