Any idea if the ice will be good to go at least in the bays by this weekend? Was hoping to get some first ice fishing in this weekend and don't want to make the treck to Red Lake and fight the crowds.

There are 3 portables sitting out in front of Chapman's Resort Again today. No reports on ice / test drilling yet. I certainly hope that it is safe ice ~~ but somewhat doubtful yet. Hunter Winfield's web cam is not reflecting this ~~ so the web cam may not be updating currently. MM.

Checking out Macs Twin Bay web site, they are walking and ATV use in the bay out to the point. The ice is still thin past the Hawkbill point. Kevin has started to mark roads A and B, they have had a few nice Northerns as well. I thought they said 5 inches of ice and more with Kevin packing the snow and drilling and flooding to make more and better ice.

Be safe
