Mike's turned into a pretty good writer. There's a great future in the next couple years because of the 2013-2014 year classes. When these year classes reach maturity and start to reproduce, the lake's walleye population will be back healthy again.
All we'll need then is good lake management.
And no netting (or electrofishing) of spawning fish.
So let me get this straight. We have strong year classes from 13 and 14. Those 2 years were both late ice out and therefore no or very little netting. Do I have that right?

You are correct. Very strong year classes. Even though the MN DNR from district 10 (Mille Lacs) claims that netting during the spawn has no effect on the walleye population, the facts speak for themselves.
(Regardless of all the imaginary data they construed to back up their preposterous notion in this propaganda newsletter.)
